My Rock

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
- Psalm 18:2

Prayer

Father, I love you. I exalt you. You are worthy of my praise. You are my rock. Thank you for saving me from death. You are sovereign over death and your power is beyond comparison. Father, protect the oppressed in this nation in your justice. Thank you for rescuing me and delighting in me. Lord, help me to be faithful in following your ways. You are merciful, blameless, pure, and holy. You give life, strength, courage, and direction. Prepare me, God, to follow you and to fight for you. Thank you for setting me apart and making me secure. Thank you for putting me on a training path and equipping me with your salvation as my shield. I praise you my living rock and my salvation. Father, I call to you for help because I need it. Father, I come to you for you are my fortress.

Training

No matter what you are facing today, the Lord will be your rock if you turn to Him.

Everyday there are battles going on all around us and within us that threaten to cripple us and bring us down. .

We need a rock to stand on that will not change or move.
We need a fortress to stand secure in that will not crumble or be shaken.
We need a deliverer to stand with who will not be stopped by death.

Warriors, our God cannot be moved. Our God cannot be overcome. Our God is strong to save. Jesus has defeated death!

Praise the Lord! Our God is the same faithful God yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Our God has a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Our God saves and rescues!

Stand secure with Jesus, our rock. Fight for Jesus.

A note to followers of Jesus in America

You are all aware that there is a war for justice happening in America right now.

As followers of Jesus, you are called to stand up for the oppressed, to speak on their behalf. You are called to care for the weak, the poor, the refugees, and the orphans. You are called to love. As God’s chosen ambassadors of His heavenly kingdom, we represent God’s way to man. God’s way is right, His way is just. As individuals, local church members, and members of the Church we are to become the righteousness of God. We are to be living displays of God’s justice, love, patience, kindness, and goodness. Justice is standing for what is right, for what is good, for what is proper. We know justice when we know right and wrong. God’s way is right, any other way is wrong. God’s way is good, any other way is bad. God’s way is proper, any other way is improper.

For followers of Jesus, fighting for justice is standing for God’s way NOT standing for America’s way. Yes, stand up for justice for people in this nation. Yes, stand up for justice for people of every nation, tribe, and tongue. When you stand up, stand with Jesus. Stand on the rock that will not be moved.

I have seen a number of posts from church people that proclaim the greatness of this nation, that claim God’s promises for this nation that God has not made promises to, that exclaim and reveal people are putting their hope in this nation. Allow me to remind you that America is not chosen by God; Americans are not God’s chosen people (yes, God chooses people who are American as His own). America was not founded through justice, but instead this nation was founded amidst many injustices.

God does accomplish His plan through the nations, through people who are good and through people who are bad. God does set in place every ruler and authority. Yet, at the same time God has given each man and women the free will to decide to follow Him and His ways or to go in their own way. God has written His laws on every heart, so that every man and women understands right and wrong, yet we still choose wrong.

Please don’t put your hope in America. Yes, do what you can do for justice (care for others, speak up for others, vote, speak truth, be the church, pray for justice, stand for Jesus). Yes, pray for our governing authorities. Yes, live peaceably. Yes, stand up for what God stands for. Yes, pay your taxes. Yes, obey the law (unless God’s law says otherwise). Yes, trust in God’s sovereignty. Do not put your hope in America, or you will be let down. America is not a secure rock. America cannot save you. America will never be God’s nation. America will crumble. America will be shaken. America will end.

God may bring good change to America. He may bring justice, and we can do our part for that. But God’s plan will never be to make America a holy nation. God’s plan for justice is Jesus and His Church.

Follow Jesus. Be the Church we are called to be.
