Guard Your Church

You, O LORD, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever.
- Psalm 12:7

Prayer

Father, you are faithful. Your words are pure; they are absolutely reliable; they are perfect; they are without flaw or error; they are true. I trust in your promises. Father, guard your church. Guard the hearts of your people against the lies and deception of the ungodly. Guard our hearts against the flattery and prideful boasting of the unfaithful who seek selfish gain. Lord, protect the poor and the oppressed from the schemes of wicked men. Lord, we are surrounded by wicked people who do not love you, but who instead love and exalt depravity. Thank you for giving us Your trustworthy Word to guide and protect our hearts. Father, turn our hearts to Your Word. Guard us, Lord.

Training

There are so many voices fighting for our attention. We live in a culture that promotes individuality, being seen, and being heard so the amount of content that is being created every day is staggering. Every day we decide whose words we will listen to and whose words we will ignore. The best way for us to discern what voices to listen to is to filter them through the truth of God’s Word.

God has given us His Word to transform our hearts, to guard our hearts, and to equip us to be warriors who go to battle to make disciples who make disciples.

Our battle mission in God’s Word is to declare His gospel and to demonstrate His love. God calls us to be a voice in the darkness that brings His light; to be a voice that declares His Words. The Word of God is our sword in a battle for our hearts.

Warriors, pick up your sword; pick up God’s Word. The battle must always first be fought in our own hearts through prayer and worship or we will not be prepared to battle for another’s heart. We must let God’s Word speak to our hearts so that we can speak His Word to others.
