Sojourners with Jesus
Hear my prayer, O LORD,
and give ear to my cry
hold not your peace at my tears!
For I am a sojourner with you,
a guest, like all my fathers.
- Psalm 39:12
Prayer
Father,
I am so prone to speak my frustrations in the presence of strangers. Help me to hold my tongue when my words will cause harm. Help me to speak to you in my suffering instead of grumbling. Show me my limits, show me how small I am. Show me that nothing on this earth should hold my hope, but that you alone are the hope I can hold onto. Help me to chose to pray to you in your correction of me instead of complain to others about you. Help me to remember that I am yours and that what you promise far outweighs that which I might suffer.
Training
Warriors, we are sojourners with Jesus. We are not a stranger to God. We are strangers together with Jesus in a hostile world, but we know that we have a home in heaven with Jesus. More than that, we know that the suffering we experience in this world will be nothing compared to the sweet sweet satisfaction we will experience when we with unveiled faces see God's shining face beaming down upon us. That God's future for us is to bask in His goodness and glory forever.
